Can the generated files contain invented information?

No, and it is verified rather than promised. Every URL in the files is tested before delivery: if it does not resolve, it is not shipped. If something is not on your site, it is not written. The merged robots.txt keeps every line you already had.

No. They go at the root of your domain, over FTP or your host's file manager. No server configuration, no plugin, no code changes.

Can an AI agent use Indexonic directly?

Yes. Indexonic exposes an MCP server at https://agent.indexonic.com/api/mcp, advertised at /.well-known/mcp.json, plus a REST API described at /api/agent/openapi.json. The audit tool is open and rate limited per IP address. File generation is not available to agents: it returns an instruction to have the user create a free account.

Does an audit guarantee ChatGPT will cite my site?

No, and nobody can guarantee that — engines choose sources on criteria they do not publish. What the audit does is find and fix the technical obstacles that make a site illegible or unusable to them. That is necessary, not sufficient.
